A Preacher's Job

Bradlee

I always like to get people to think when they listen to our music, or when we do our seminars and presentations. I have had to pray and think and ponder for the message we present.  When I search for quotes from the founders and old preachers, they always have something convicting to say which either motivates you to action or condemns you for your lack of action.  The Bible says in Romans 10:14, "How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?"

John 16:8 says, "And when he (the Holy Spirit) is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness and of judgment”.  The purpose of preaching is to convict your conscience of violations in your life towards God, who is Holy and Just.  If you aren't moved, I doubt the preacher is doing his job, or if he is faithful, you have hardened your heart so much that you don't even hear the truth.  Many people we come in contact with say that church is boring, or it’s just a bunch of hype, or "the guy up front always talks about money".  Remember the scripture at the beginning of this paragraph?

Jesus Christ himself said, "The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil" (John 7:7).  His whole purpose was to take the cloak off of your sin, that you may know the only way to know the Father is through Jesus Christ (John 14:6 & 17:3, 1 Cor. 15:17, 1 Timothy 1:10). He is faithful…are you?
