Don't Judge Me!

Event Assembly 5

Just recently, I had a conversation with a professing Christian, who had agreed to help me with something.  After a couple of phone calls, he hung up with no response.  I confronted the man, and very simply held him to his word.  He responded to me with, “You know, Christians aren’t supposed to act like that,” referring to my confronting him.  I said, “If you know what a Christian is, then why didn’t you keep to your word?  He said, “You shouldn’t judge me.” I replied, “A liar is a liar; what Scripture are you referring to?”

No matter how absurd it sounds, they always pull out the trump card of “Don’t judge me,” when they are the ones who, by their actions, have been judged already.  Let’s get this straight.  Jesus said in Matthew 7, “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.”  Basically, what Christ is saying, is you can’t judge someone on something if you do the same thing they do.  This is called a hypocrite.  Christ said in John 7:24 not to “judge by appearance, but judge righteous judgment.”  I have to first examine myself and be clean before God, so that I can be a faithful witness for Him (2 Corinthians 13:5).

Is a police officer wrong or "judging you" if you were pulled over for going 70 m.p.h. in a 55 m.p.h. zone?  Would you have the right to look at him and say, “Don’t judge me.  Cops shouldn’t act this way.  You should be more forgiving.”  He is only doing his job, upholding the law, which he swore to uphold and to protect.  As a matter of fact, he is only protecting others and creating an atmosphere for others to obey the law.  He is setting the example.  Wouldn’t you thank him for this?  Or do you get mad at him when it was You who broke the law?  Kinda sounds silly doesn’t it?  But isn’t this the mentality of most of you out there? You make excuses for the things that you do wrong, and blame others in the process?

Thank God that Christ made no excuses as to why He couldn’t go to the Cross.  He gave us a conscience to live by as Christians, so that we can be a light to the world, not a spot in it.  “Having a good conscience, that whereas they speak evil of you as of evil doers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ“(1 Peter 3:16).  Ask yourself the question, is there anything in my life that I would be ashamed to see someone else do?  Be honest.  Christ came to save His people from their sins, and to give unto them eternal life (Matthew 1:21, John 3, 1 John 3).  You can’t afford to be wrong on this, because it will cost you your life.
