God's Absolute Standard

It never ceases to amaze me how corrupt man is, and how far we will go to prove our point or agenda.  Tolerance is a word that is often applied only to those who have ‘godly absolutes’ as their basis.  For example, promiscuity, lying, greed, abortion (murder in the womb), homosexuality, and violence, are being promoted as normal lifestyles only so far as they are done in moderation.  So, when a true Christian brings the absolute hammer of the law, the Ten Commandments, people are often offended because it doesn’t give the sinner any leeway to live the way he/she wants to live. In other words, the mentality is, “I can have my cake and eat it, too.”  The problem is, this mentality never works and never has worked because there is no standard in which men are to live by.

An older man once told me, “Man is the arbiter of right and wrong, therefore if it feels right for you to do, do it.”  I responded with, “Ok, so then Hitler was right when he slaughtered millions of people because he thought he was right?  That is exactly what you are stating, Sir.”  He was dumbfounded, and at the end of the conversation he acknowledged that our sense of conscience only comes from God.  If that is the case, then God has rules, which He gave us because He loved us and wanted the best for us.  God is very absolute, and He has to be to maintain the standard He has for us.  If we tolerate anything that God said was wrong in any sense, then we cease to be a Christian by the fact that He is the standard and not us.  Once we become the standard, our quality of love is no longer pure, but ultimately becomes dimmer and dimmer, and will ultimately be corrupt.  Matthew 24:12-13 says, “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” Martin Luther King Jr, once stated in a speech that “A man begins to die when he doesn’t stand for what is right, or what is the truth.”    

Now is the time to stand and to see what God is willing to do through you if you are willing to do so.  God Bless You All.
