Rapture

Here is something really funny.  Where is the word "rapture" in the Bible?  You can look all you want, but you won't find it.  I've always found it ironic that the professing church says we don't deserve salvation and it’s all of "grace". Well then, why is it they preach so much on your eternal reward (heaven), and "Jesus is coming soon, so get ready,” when the whole time Christ said you must deny yourself.  A person who is dead to himself and alive to Christ only thinks of pleasing Him for what He has done, not what they get from Him, nor neglecting their duty to Him.

The reason I bring this up is I was looking up definitions in the Webster’s 1828 Dictionary one night and stumbled on the word 'rapture'. A rapturist is, by definition, an enthusiast.  An enthusiast by definition is, "One who imagines he has special or supernatural converse with God, or special communications with Him." It also means, "The vain confidence or opinion of a person the he has special or divine communications from the Supreme Being, or familiar intercourse with Him."

Noah Webster used the example from John Locke that stated: "Enthusiasm is founded neither on reason, nor divine revelation, but rises from the conceits of a warmed or overwhelming imagination."

It’s those same people who preach that the "End Times" are coming, and have no desire to reform society to morality and the Ten Commandments.  They look for the easy way out and don't understand "For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men” (1 Peter 2:15).  Just food for thought.
