The Hope

I was recently doing a street team event at Cabela's.  As I explained to people our mission, two men told me almost the exact same response. They said, "You’re too late.  There is no hope.  We are too far gone as a country, and the Constitution doesn't exist anymore." My response was this:  "I can't believe that; if that is the case, then what was the point of freedom?  It’s a good thing that our forefathers didn't think that way.  Their situation was worse." They both responded with, "I didn't think of it that way."

Did you know that Christ was sent to this world in the midst of a corrupt government (Herod) and a hypocritical church (Pharisees)? He was so feared that when He was merely born, King Herod conspired to kill Him (read Matthew Chapter 2). When Christ began His ministry, the Pharisees sought to do the same for fear that they would lose their positions AND their nation (read John 11).  The point I am trying to make is under God, we have rights, and those rights have been violated; that is not disputable.  But why is it that when the going gets tough, people give up?  I thought that this was America — land of the FREE and the home of the BRAVE.

The founding fathers had a much rougher situation than we do today.  For example, they faced standing armies, soldiers breaking into people’s homes and looting, slavery, and even a tyrranical king over 3000 miles away.  Christ was in a much similar situation in regards to kingdoms and policies, but the most amazing thing in both parties is the fact that God heard the cries of His people for deliverance.  He found a few faithful people in these generations that would keep to His word and rely solely on the power of God to deliver them.  Now, I am not taking away the fact of God's judgment upon those who know the truth and disobey.  He promised that these things would befall our country if we didn't wholy follow Him (Deuteronomy 28, Leviticus 26).  Now it’s time to live your profession instead of saying it.

By the end of my conversation, one of them said this: "I guess you do the right thing, because it’s the right thing to do.  You gave me hope again, keep doing what you’re doing." That's why the Bible says in 1 Peter 3:15, "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear".  Thank God He answered our prayer for these men, and we pray the same for you in Jesus’ name.
